To determine if your organization should apply for funding from the Mary Black Foundation, first review information about our Focus Areas: Early Childhood Development, Healthy Eating | Active Living, and the Community Health Fund.
We consider grantmaking to be an investment in Spartanburg, SC that will contribute to improved health, wellness, and success. Therefore, we seek to invest in strong, well-run organizations that are clear about what results they will achieve and how the results will be measured. For more information, read Frequently Asked Questions and What We Fund.
Schedule a Grant
Before submitting an application for a grant in Early Childhood Development or Healthy Eating | Active Living, potential applicants must meet with the Foundation’s program staff. We strongly recommend that you meet with staff at least 30 days prior to the grant deadline. Contact Amy Page to schedule a grant consultation.
Applicants seeking funding through the Community Health Fund are not required to schedule a grant consultation. If you have any questions about the application or whether your project would be a good fit for the Community Health Fund, contact Amy Page.
The deadline for 2020 grant applications – Community Health Fund, Early Childhood Development, and Healthy Eating | Active Living – will be April 30, 2020.
All applications must be received by the Foundation no later than 5 p.m. If the application deadline falls on a weekend or holiday, the application will be accepted on the next business day by 5 p.m. Applicants will be notified of receipt of the application via email. If you do not receive an email confirmation, please contact Amy Page.
Applications are reviewed by our staff and Board of Trustees. We often visit applicant organizations during the review process in order to learn about the proposal first hand. In addition, we may contact your organization’s partners and funders during our review process. The review process takes approximately 75 days. You will be contacted as soon as a decision is reached. At any point in the process, please do not hesitate to contact the Foundation with your questions or concerns.
