Have you ever wondered, “Who can I call to help a teen with …….?” Or, “What does Spartanburg offer for teens?” On Wednesday, February 6, 2019 you have the opportunity to meet many of the local youth-serving providers of Spartanburg to ask these questions and more at a Speed Networking Event.
Mary Black Foundation’s adolescent health initiative, Connect, promotes the supports, services, and opportunities available to teens throughout Spartanburg. Connect collaborates with local adolescent-serving agencies to build capacity in adolescent friendly services and implement evidence-based interventions. Connect also brings awareness of adolescent issues and breaks down barriers to address the needs of youth. Connect’s online resource guide is separated into 8 categories:
- Educational Services
- Healthy Relationships
- Mental Health and Wellness
- Pregnant and Parenting Teens
- Sexual Health
- Sparks
- Substance Abuse
- Vocational and Workforce Development
At the Connect Speed Networking event local youth-serving providers who are included on the Connect online resource guide will explain the services they provide for youth and answer any questions attendees might have. Participants will have the opportunity to spend 15 minutes at each category to speed network with these agencies. This networking event is free and open to anyone interested in learning more about the services, supports, and opportunities available for teens in Spartanburg.
The event will be Wednesday, February 6th from 11:30 am-2:30 pm at Drayton Mills Event Center. If you are interested in attending, please complete the online registration form, or contact Polly Edwards-Padgett, Adolescent Health Project Director, for more information.
