Mary Black Foundation Grant Application Opens 2/26/2020

Starting Wednesday, February 26, 2020 the Mary Black Foundation will be accepting grant applications for its only grant cycle of 2020. The mission of the Mary Black Foundation is to invest in people and communities for improved health, wellness, and success in Spartanburg County. The Foundation has funds available for grant requests within its two priority areas: Early Childhood Development and Healthy Eating & Active Living. The Foundation seeks proposals that address one of the following:

  • Supporting children, prenatal through age five, and their families to increase the number of children who are ready for success in kindergarten.
  • Programs, policies, or places that will increase the number of people who are physically active and eat healthy

In addition to the grants available in its two focus areas, the Foundation has funds available for grants through its Community Health Fund (CHF). The CHF is an annual grantmaking opportunity that supports efforts to promote health and wellness, outside of the Foundation’s Early Childhood Development and Healthy Eating & Active Living priority areas.

To determine if your organization should apply for funding from the Mary Black Foundation, first review information about our Focus Areas: Early Childhood Development, Healthy Eating | Active Living, and the Community Health Fund.

Before submitting an application for a grant in Early Childhood Development or Healthy Eating | Active Living, potential applicants must meet with the Foundation’s program staff.  We strongly recommend that you meet with staff at least 30 days prior to the grant deadline. Contact Amy Page to schedule a grant consultation.

Applicants seeking funding through the Community Health Fund are not required to schedule a grant consultation. If you have any questions about the application or whether your project would be a good fit for the Community Health Fund, contact Amy Page.

The grant deadline is 5:00 p.m. on April 1, 2020 for both Community Health Fund applications and for applications for Early Childhood Development and Healthy Eating & Active Living. More information will be available under the ‘Apply for a Grant’ section of the website on Wednesday, 2/26/2020.
