It’s Bike Month!

National Bike Month is so much more than 31 days in May. It’s a celebration of bikes; an impetus to get rolling again; a gateway to riding more often; a time to evangelize the beauty of bikes; and much, much more.
Since 1956, May has been recognized as National Bike Month, and the League [of American Bicyclists] has sponsored this celebration of cycling for decades, as a means to advance the movement to build a Bicycle Friendly America for everyone.
Biking Around Spartanburg
Spartanburg is home to The Dan, a 50-mile urban trail system consisting of existing and proposed trails spearheaded by PAL: Play. Advocate. Live Well. Many of the existing trails that make up The Dan are bicycle-friendly!
Bike Park
Spartanburg is also home to the Vic Bailey Subaru Bike Park. This park is a community collaboration located off the Mary Black Foundation Rail Trail behind the Flock Shop in Spartanburg, SC. The park includes bicycle features like the wood and dirt flow trails which take mountain bikers on a roller coaster experience with little pedaling and braking necessary. Other features for slightly advanced riders include the wooden banked turn, pump track, and more. The park was made to suit all skill levels, built with progressive features so you can start small and advance at your own pace.
Join in the celebration!
Save that gas money! Get pedaling! Celebrate Bike Month 2023 by participating in Bike to Work Week (May 15-21) or Bike to Work Day (May 19). Or, celebrate by exploring the many bicycle-friendly trails and parks Spartanburg has to offer with friends and family.
