Countdown to Kindergarten Returns August 4th to TCMU-Spartanburg

Believe it or not — it’s time to get ready for the upcoming school year! The Children’s Museum of the Upstate is here to help. Countdown to Kindergarten returns Friday, August 4th from 5-7 p.m. at TCMU-Spartanburg. RSVP now to this fun, free community event designed to get your young learners ready for school. Countdown to Kindergarten is specifically designed for families with rising 3k, 4k, and kindergarten students.

At Countdown to Kindergarten, parents can connect with community partners focused on student success and childhood development. These organizations will provide information, resources, and activities that will help prepare children for their academic journey ahead! Children will:

  • Learn how to hold a lunch tray.
  • Practice getting on and off the bus.
  • Sign up for a library card.
  • And much, much more!

The event will take place on Magnolia Street in front of the museum. The street will be closed off to traffic to maximize safety and fun. A balloon artist and face painters will be on hand, plus kids can build with giant LEGOs, play jumbo Connect Four, and compete in a round of cornhole.

The Children’s Museum will also be open for play during the event, but capacity is limited. South Carolina Autism Society will be providing a free “chill out zone” for kids with sensory needs who need a break during the event. While the event is free, guests are asked to RSVP for planning purposes.
