Our vision for Spartanburg is that it is a welcoming and connected community where all residents can achieve health and wellbeing.
We consider grantmaking to be an investment in Spartanburg, SC that will contribute to improved health, wellbeing, and success. We want to partner with organizations in Spartanburg working diligently to improve health equity in our community.
Opportunity at a Glance
Grant applications will be accepted May 1, 2023 through June 15, 2023 (5:00pm). Grant decisions will be made in late August and funds will be available in September.
Mary Black Foundation is offering $10,000-$20,000 grant opportunities to organizations and partners whose work aligns with our mission, focus areas, and the Health Equity Framework.

Before You Apply
Before submitting an application for a grant, interested applicants should:
- Learn about our Focus Areas
- Get familiar with the Health Equity Framework and how your work fits into this framework
- Ensure eligibility and preview required documents
- Review the updated grant consultation policy

Grant Consultations:
Grant consultations are available, but not required this year. Members of the program staff are happy to meet with organizations prior to the submission of an application.
Consultations will take place before the application deadline and can be scheduled through Amy Page.
